Rita was born in Chicago Il., on January 29, 1946, to Henry and Pearl (Vecautiosh) Lantvit. She graduated from Cicero High School with the class of 1960. Rita married Fred Anthony Burger on August 20, 1966, in Cicero, Illinois. The couple moved to Ardmore in 1975 when she took a job at The Pants Factory in Ardmore working there for ten years until it closed. When it closed, she devoted herself as a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. Rita had three children and raised two of her grandchildren as her own. She had a giving heart and was dedicated to take care of kids. She worked in the nursery at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 30 years and loved every minute of it, she adored watching all the kids grow up. Rita loved cooking, baking and always made sure no one left hungry; and every Halloween never forgot to provide the traditional stew.
In her later years Rita and her bonus daughter Ashlee would go on adventures to the local mall, shops or even to Dallas for a day; you just never knew where the two of them would end up. She really enjoyed spending time with her family and even in her older years loved watching and taking care of her great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Henry, Billy and Micky Lantvit.
Rita is survived by her husband Fred Burger Sr. of 58 years of marriage and their children, Fred Burger, Jr., Kim Taylor, and Stacy Hills, bonus daughters, Stacee Taylor and Ashlee Smith, and husband, Chris, grandchildren, Jessica Dodds, and husband, Mitchell, Terra Burger, Preston Cox and wife Rachael, Jordan Miller, Brooke Davis and husband, Matt, and Trae Burger, and twenty-three great-grandchildren, Terrell, Bryden, Tinsley, Paisley, Keeiontrae, Kane, Legend, Khaleesi, Kayden, Daxton, Mazikeen, Madisyn, Kinzye, Blakelyn, Bentley, Rylee, Phenix, Azmyn, Adeline, Hazel, Austin, Wednesday, and Aries.
