Obituary of Jimmy Joe Wilkerson

Jimmy Joe Wilkerson, age 84, passed away on November 12, 2024, in Ardmore, Okla.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Porter Cemetery with Pastor Steve Wall officiating.
Jimmy was born in Durant, Okla. on October 10, 1940, to Max Wilkerson and Sissy (Philip) Wilkerson. He attended and graduated from Garland Texas Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army in October of 1963, serving in Germany and after his honorable discharge he enlisted in the National Guard in December of 1965 and retired in 1997. He married Earlene Chapman in 1965 at Ardmore Indian Baptist Church. The couple made their home in Ardmore, Okla., where they raised two children; he was devoted to his children, teaching them to play softball and bowling. Jimmy worked at Carter Seminary and later for Valero Oil. He enjoyed playing pool, golfing, bowling in bowling leagues and in tournaments. He had a love for OU football and the OU girls softball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; William Sockey, Johnny Wilkerson, Noah Wilkerson, and Ada Johnson.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Ward and husband Robert Ward, son, Todd Wilkerson, grandchildren: Lance Wilkerson, Derrick Wilkerson and wife, Page Davolt, great-grandchildren: Brandon, Lanita, Kyiesha, Rayah, Brodie, Raeyona, and Rindy.
Casket bearers will be; Lewis Eads, Todd Morgan, Darrick Wilkerson, Lance Wilkerson, Kevin Bob, and Robert Ward.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday, November 18, 2024 at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
