Obituary of Hershell Newton “Corky” Watkins

Hershell Newton “Corky” Watkins, age 70, passed away on October 6, 2024, in Red Bluff, CA. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, October 14, 2024, at Rollins Cemetery in Marshall County. Corky was born on October 18, 1953, to Odell Watkins and Jewell (Faulkner) Watkins in Ardmore, Okla. He attended Dickson Schools. When he was younger, he loved to mow and do yard work. He loved fishing down in Lebanon with his brothers, sisters, and family. He enjoyed having his beer and playing dominos. Corky loved his brother, Hershell, who was his best friend. Anytime he could, he enjoyed sitting outside listening to his music on the porch. Corky has lived with his niece, Ashley, for years until her mother, Debbie, his sister, got sick with cancer; and then Ashley moved him to his brother Hershell’s house, where he has been for the past three years. He loved his Ashley and her babies, as well as his two sons and two daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Charlie Watkins, and Bobby Watkins, Henry Watkins and sister, Debbie (Watkins) McElfresh. Corky is survived by his children, Hershell, Tommy, Tonya, and Irene. Special niece, Ashley Blanton and brother, Hershell Watkins. Casket bearers will be Clinton McElfresh, Corey Watkins, Rodney Doss, Donald Johns and Daniel Blanton.
