Obituary of Iris Glendora Pruitt

Iris Glendora (Grosclaude) Pruitt, age 93, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at her home at Lone Grove, Oklahoma. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 12, 2024, in the Masonic Garden at Hillcrest Memorial Park of Ardmore. Cremation services under the direction of Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home and Crematory. Iris was born on June 19, 1931, to Paul E. Grosclaude and Emma H. (Roos) Grosclaude at Galesburg, Illinois. She graduated from Bethany High School in 1949 and attended college in Oklahoma City, Okla., majoring in business. While living there she met Ted Pruitt and they married on June 3, 1950. Iris and Ted worked together in their business: Ted’s TV Sales and Service. “TV Dead? Call Ted.” They moved from Lone Grove in 1968 to Security, Colorado. Ted started working for a cable TV company and that job moved them to a variety of places across the US. They opened a restaurant in Liberal, Kansas in 1972. Then they moved to Canyon, Texas, and opened a BBQ restaurant. They moved back to Lone Grove to take care of his mother in 1979, and Iris worked at the First Community Bank in Lone Grove. Iris was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars, Serving in many chairs in her 68 years of Service. Iris also enjoyed playing the piano, and many crafts. Iris was a loving mother and homemaker and enjoyed hosting family gathers for most holidays. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Pruitt, and her older sister, Jene. Iris is survived by their four children: Rebecca Pruitt of Burneyville, Okla., and her sons: Scott Van Den Bosch and David Van Den Bosch, Ramona Wallace and husband, John, of Olathe, Kansas, and their sons: John T. Wallace and Andy Wallace, Patricia Petrik and husband, George, of Wichita, Kansas, and their son, Adam Petrik, and Fred Pruitt and wife, Janie, of Lone Grove, and their children, Beau Pruitt, Austin Pruitt, Matt Rizzo, and Andrea Rizzo. Seven great-grandchildren: Jayden, Jaykob, Hanna, Beckham, Paisley, Emery, and Oaklee. Younger sister, Dee Madden, of Laverne, Okla., and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
