Norwood A. Tinder, age 84, passed away on June 23, 2024 in Ardmore, Okla. Norwood will be available for friends and family to pay respects and view on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore. Private family interment to follow in Young Cemetery.

Norwood was born in Spiro, Okla. on November 17, 1939, to Dutch Tinder and Sylvia Morrow. Norwood was raised by his mother and step-father, Dr. Forrest Bainbridge, when they moved to Ardmore in the 1950’s. He attended both Plainview and Ardmore High School, where he graduated. Norwood married Jerry Delores (Cavner) Tinder on April 28, 1960 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The couple moved to Ardmore and began raising their family. In 1967, they moved to Mannsville, Okla., after living there for 34 years they moved back to Ardmore. Norwood worked at Stromberg Carlson for seven years and later for Jordan Distribution for 20 years. He then went to work for the Campbell Family Inc., working at the ProMart Gas Station for 10 years. He loved his CB radios; his handle was Boomer. In his youth he enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife on May 1, 2020, infant son, Gerald Edward Tinder, son, Allen Tinder, brothers-in-law, Ronald Cavner, and Larry Cavner.

Norwood is survived by his daughter; Deborah Huckabaa and husband, Jeffrey of Dickson, granddaughters: Sara Moeller of Ardmore, and great-grandchildren: Zayden, Landon, and Rylee. Brother, Rick Tinder of Fort Smith, AR, cousin, Liz Smith of Ft. Smith, AR., sister-in-laws, June Elisse, and Edna of Dickson, brother in-law, Dwight Cavner and wife, Mary Beth, of Ardmore.
