Obituary of Kenneth Eugene Barton

Kenneth Eugene Barton, age 72, passed away at his home in Ardmore, Okla., on Friday, June 14, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 20, 2024, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home of Ardmore. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park of Ardmore. Kenneth was born on November 27, 1951, to Harry Clayton “HC” Barton and Frances (Erlewine) Barton at Ardmore, Oklahoma. He attended Wilson, Okla., schools and graduated from Wilson High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla. He worked at various jobs until he bought a truck. He drove for many years with different companies including Dolese, Jay Bray, and Big Red. Kenneth married Miss Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Baehl on April 8, 1983. After many years, the Lord Jesus called on him to do the Lord’s work. He volunteered, with his wife Cindy, at the Ardmore Veteran’s Center on Sunday mornings. Brother Joe White and Brother Jim Hamilton of the Northwest Baptist Church of Ardmore were instrumental in Kenneth’s helping with the worship services and Bible services that were held at the Center every week. He also enjoyed being with the other volunteers, and visiting and encouraging the Veterans to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior. At home, Kenneth enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and the neighbor’s dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, HC and Frances Barton, sisters, Linda Utt and Alice Taylor, and grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Erlewine and Mr. and Mrs. Barton. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Cindy, of the home, and his brother, Bill Barton and wife, Nettie, and many nephews and nieces.
