Obituary of Kay Lynette Kirk

Kay Lynette (Welch) Kirk, age 70, passed away on June 2, 2024, in Ardmore, Okla. A gathering will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home. Lynette was born on July 7, 1953, to Evelyn Louise (Carpenter) Welch, in Lubbock, Texas. She attended and graduated from Marietta High School. Lynette went on to attend Southeastern, Oklahoma State University and East Central University receiving her Master’s in Education. She was a member of MHS Alumni. Lynette loved theater and one of her quotes was “The happiest I have ever been in my life was when I was on stage.” She was instrumental in establishing the Butterfield Stage Play House. Lynette was part of the Ardmore Little Theater. She was an avid supporter of the local arts always donating time and money. She was preceded in death by her loving grandmother, Ethel A. (McMeans) Carpenter. Lynette is survived by her son, John Robert Kirk, and wife, Sara, of Ardmore, Okla. grandson and best friend, John Robert Kirk II, and wife, Destiny, of Ardmore, Okla. granddaughters, Danielle Haack and husband, J.D., of Tulsa, Okla., Hunter Lee and her fiancé, Marek Stein, of Lone Grove, Okla. and Rhonni Lee and fiancé, Jay Graham, of Colorado Springs, Co., great-grandsons, Troy and Elliot Stinson, of Ardmore, Okla., and great-granddaughter, Juliet Haack of Tulsa, Okla. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lynette’s name to MHS Alumni, Inc., P.O. Box 492, Marietta, OK 73448.
