Billy Bob Bryant, a resident of Ardmore, Oklahoma passed away on May 16, 2024 at the age of 86. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Billy Bob was born in Ardmore on June 9, 1937 to Leroy Chapman and Aileen Bryant. At an early age he was taken in and raised by his grandparents, William “Mr. Buck” and Annie Buchanan. Billy Bob attended and graduated from Springer High School and married the love of his life, Patricia Jean Smith, in Springer on April 1, 1956. Always a diligent worker, Billy Bob started his work career in high school when he was hired to care for planes at the Ardmore Airport. After graduation he began employment at Ten Pin Bowling in Ardmore where he became a certified pinsetter mechanic. He was often called to maintain equipment in bowling alleys across southern Oklahoma. In 1964 he moved with wife Pat and their children to Durant where he took a job at Holiday Lanes. A few years later he left the bowling industry and moved into a maintenance position at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Later he accepted another maintenance position at Durant Bank & Trust. 1976 found him moving with wife Pat to Oklahoma City where he held a watchstander position at Liberty Bank Tower until retiring in 1997. They returned to Springer, his hometown and place where they met and married. Always interested in helping others, he served as a city council member for several years. Throughout his life Billy Bob loved Jesus and was a faithful follower of Christ. As a child he was active at the Springer Methodist Church. In every place they moved he and his family served in local congregations while supporting domestic and international churches. Billy Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and wife. He is survived by son, Bill Bryant and wife Carolyn, of Oklahoma City; daughter Pamela Ragan and her husband Glen, of Springer, OK; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; his close friend Mary Woodley; and a host of family and friends.
