Obituary of Jimmy Dale Cox

Jimmy Dale Cox, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, in Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Hillcrest Memorial Park of Ardmore. Rev. Vicki Nix will officiate. Cremation services are under the care of Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
Jimmy was born in Ardmore on February 2, 1947, to Perry D. Cox and Allie Mae (Hoffman) Cox. He attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Ardmore Schools with the Class of 1965. Jimmy married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Willingham, on June 18, 1966, in Ardmore. He served his country in The United States Army from July of 1966 until he was honorably discharged in March of 1972. Jim’s first job was as a veterinarian’s assistant, he went on to be a contractor in the home improvement industry, installing siding and gutters. In his spare time, Jimmy loved to play dominoes and shoot pool with family and friends and go fishing. He and Pat attended First Christian Church of Ardmore. Jimmy never met a stranger that didn’t leave his presence laughing and having fun during their conversation. He was deeply liked and was most popular with whoever spoke with him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Perry D Cox and mother, Allie Mae Cox, one brother, Larry W. Cox, and nephew, Kelvin Cox.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Patricia, of 58 years, son, Jimmy Don Cox, granddaughter, Piper Cox, grandson, Perry Cox, brother, David M. Cox. Sister-in-law, Linda Vance, and husband, Ronny, sister-in-law, Judy Cavnar and Ed Cavner, and three nephews, Mark Vance and Jessica, Cody Cavnar and Larry D. Cox.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ardmore Animal Shelter at 321 Carol Brown Blvd, Ardmore, OK 73401.
There will be a gathering for family and friends, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home.
