Obituary of Dorothy “Lynn” Hackney

Dorothy “Lynn” Hackney, 65, of Ardmore, Oklahoma passed away Monday, December 4, 2023 after a long struggle with Parkingson’s. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, March 15, 2024, in the Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest Funeral Home in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada on March 15, 1958, to Thomas and Jaine Murrin. She attended school at the Adventist’s Kingsway school in Osawa, Ontario, CN. Lynn had a two-year degree from Andrew’s University in Michigan. She worked for IBM in Dallas and Los Angles. When Lynn and her husband retired, they moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma to be closer to the kids and grandkids. Lynn loved volunteer work and did so for the Arlington, TX pregnancy resale center, Arlington Baptist College and surgery waiting at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, OK. She and her husband were members of the First Baptist Church of Ardmore. She is preceded in death by her dad Thomas Murrin and mom Jaine Maude Murrin and her niece Kristine Steffner. Survivors: Husband Jerry D. Hackney, Sisters Betty Murrin, Dulcie Biscaro, Karin Mackenzie and Larry Murrin. Stepchildren: Jerri Ann Ridley and Brent Hackney. Grandchildren: Dalton Wortham, Jordan Wood, Kaden Ridley, Lexi Hackney and Blake Hackney. In lieu of flowers please donate in Lynn’s name to the Parkingson’s Disease Foundation.
