Richard F. Davis, age 85, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, in Davis, Okla.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 14, 2024, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Pastor James Taylor officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Cremation under the care of Griffin ~ Hillcrest Crematory, Ardmore, Okla.
Richard was born on October 2, 1938, to John B. Davis and Lorena (Taylor) Davis in Ardmore, Okla. He attended and graduated from Ardmore High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Marie Woolery, on November 23, 1957. The couple moved their family to Texas in 1966, where he worked for Kawneer as a foremen. The family moved to Ardmore in 1977, where he worked with his brother as a contractor and later worked for Lake Murry State Park as the assistant park manager, retiring in 2000. A proud Choctaw, he and Joyce loved traveling with the Chickasaw tribe, all over the United States. Richard loved horse races and football, supporting OU and the Dallas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 62 years, Joyce Marie Davis, son, Eddie D. Davis, four brothers and five sisters.
Richard is survived by two sons: Rick D. Davis and wife, Sherry, of Alabama, and Ronnie W. Davis and wife, Caryl, of Ardmore. Special nephew, Jay C. Borden and wife, Jeana, of Ardmore and niece, Terra Borden, of Baton Rouge, LA. Grandchildren: Justin Davis and wife, Kathy, Megan Hackbarth, Matt Davis, Mitch Davis, Kelsey Henley, Katey Henley and Kolton Henley. Numerous great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Serving as honorary pallbearer with be Justin Davis.
