Wava Fern (Straw) Guin, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Shawnee, Oklahoma. Cremation services under the direction of Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home of Ardmore, Okla.

Wava was born on April 5, 1944, at Plattsmouth, Nebraska, to Alfred Lavaughn “Jim” Straw and Fern Marguerite (Kennedy) Straw. She was raised by her Aunt Florence Frazier after mother died. She graduated from Macks Creek High School, Macks Creek, Missouri, and earned her Associate’s Degree at Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa, Okla. Wava married Mr. Jacky Lee Guin on August 31, 2006. In 1988, she moved to Ardmore, Okla. She became a Licensed and Ordained Minister with the Apostolic Faith Church and served as Minister at Bethel Community Church of Madill, Okla. Wava was also a published author with her work “Founding Women of Valor.” She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred "Jim" Straw and Fern Straw, aunt, Florence "Auntie" "Mammy" Frazier, husband, Jacky Guin, daughter, Erin Wooten, and uncle, Lavern Kennedy.

Wava is survived by her daughters: Carmin and husband Earl Snider, Maria King and husband, Mark, and Barbara Snider and husband, Cuyler, and son, Jason Eaton. Grandchildren: Ashley Gonzales, Chantel Martin, Levi Wakolee, Laci White, Mariah Snider, Kolbie Eaton, Zachary Hamblin, Emily Hamblin, and Wyatt Eaton. Great-grandchildren: Austin Gonzales, Ava Gonzales, Aliviah Gonzales, and Payton Watterson. Sister, Lorna Geist, and brother, Jimmie Straw and wife, Barbara
