Obituary of Viola “Lavern” Wilson

Viola “Lavern” Wilson, age 89, passed away on October 19, 2023 in Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 10:30am, Monday, October 23, 2023, in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore Okla. with Pastor Steve Skinner officiating. Lavern was born in Ardmore, Okla. on April 30, 1934 to Johnny H. Camp and Stella (Burchfield) Camp. She attended and graduated from Dickson High School with the class of 1952. She married Harold Kennard Wilson on Oct. 10, 1952 in Ardmore, Okla. She worked for J.C. Yates as an accountant but was a homemaker for most of her life. Lavern enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She was an accomplished organist and was known to be a shutter bug. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Kennard Wilson, son, Harold Wilson, sisters, Evelyn Davis, Zaylon Boyd, and Geneva Brown. Lavern is survived by her son, Dennis Wilson, grandchildren, Christy Wilson, Michael Wilson, Jerry Don Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Taylor Whitehurst, and Jason Wilson. Great grandchildren, Camdem Whitehurst, Kendalyn Whitehurst, Abbie Whitehurst, Aubry Whitehurst, Jocelyn Wilson, Braden Wilson, Eric Gleaves, Bradly Gleaves, Braxton Wilson, Natalie Wilson, and Nathan Wilson, and three great-great-grandchildren. Brother, John A. Camp, and wife Sam; sister, Doris Choat, nephew, Randy Cramer and wife Lisa, numerous other nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. A gathering will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home.
