Obituary of Diane Long

Mary Diane Long, age 59, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Ada, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 21, 2023, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla., with Pastor Donny Custar officiating. Services under the direction of Griffin~Hillcrest of Ardmore. Diane was born on May 6, 1964, to Ray and Nelda (Oxford) Long at Ardmore, Okla. She lived in the Ardmore area most all her life and was devoted to her faith. She was baptized at First Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist, and at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Ardmore. No matter where she lived, she was always in attendance and active. Diane was always searching for the best BBQ, her favorite type of food. Whenever she and her friends were traveling to Oklahoma City, she loved to stop for BBQ at Smokin’ Joe’s in Davis, Okla. Diane liked to share her love of chocolate with her friends. Chocolate Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies, and chocolate breakfast cereals were some of her favorites. Getting to take a trip to Sonic to get a Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper with no ice and an order of onion rings just made her day. She would tell her friends “This can be our little secret.” Diane enjoyed watching movies, swimming, and decorating her room with her chosen theme of Minnie Mouse right down to her comforter and night light. She had a Minnie Mouse doll that she would take to the hospital with her any time she had to go. Diane enjoyed calling and chatting with her many friends and family often on her cell phone. She had most recently been living with her extended family and friends at her group home in Ada, Okla. While in Ada, she attended the Okchamali Blue Baptist Church near Connerville, Okla. While there, she had started listening to her Bible and reading the Old and New Testaments online. Diane will be remembered for her fierce love for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Nelda Rae Long and grandparents, Iley Erwin Oxford and Mary Etheridge Oxford. Diane is survived by her cousins: Tracy Cook, Carol Edwards, Lyndi McCulloch, Donna Williams, Mike Oxford, and Brent Oxford, and aunt, Sandra Oxford.
