Ahnawake Jefferson Taylor, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home, on March 7, 2016, at Madill, Okla. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am, Friday, March 11, 2016, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Pastor Steve Wall officiating. Interment to follow in Durwood Cemetery.
Ahnawake was born on April 12, 1942, to Spencer Jefferson and Dudie Mae (Lewis) Jefferson, at Talihina, Okla. She enjoyed singing gospel music, sewing, working puzzles with her grandchildren, and working in the garden. Ahnawake always loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and talking on the phone with friends. She also enjoyed going to Durwood Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cecil Glenn Taylor, son, Douglas Jefferson, two granddaughters, Kara Sampson and Stormy Lusk, and brother, W.C. Ned.
Ahnawake is survived by four sons: Richard G. Taylor and wife, Lorene, of Ardmore, Okla., Tody Taylor and wife, Shera, of Madill, Okla., Joe Taylor of Tulsa, Okla., and Jon Taylor and wife, Jen, of Ardmore, Okla. Three daughters: Gail Taylor and husband, Michael, of Madill, Okla., Amber Taylor of Madill, and Joyce Sampson, and husband, Johnny, of Ardmore, Okla. Two sisters-in-law: Josephine Taylor and Pauline Taylor of Madill, Okla., and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those serving as pallbearers will be J.R. Bowden, Nick Ashley, Kyle Hallmark, Steven Mose, Tim Scott and Ryan Taylor.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, March 10, 2016, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Griffin~Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
