Johnny Lee Meely, age 69, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, in Lone Grove, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Seaman First Class Billy Turner Veteran Cemetery in Ardmore, Okla. Johnny was born on August 7, 1953, to Abram Clarence Meely and Chiquita Ruth (Johnson) Meely, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He attended and graduated from DeSoto Schools in DeSoto, Texas. He went attended Haskell Indian College. Johnny enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on October 23, 1974 and was honorably discharged on July 19, 1978. He worked for Dollar General and the Black Gold Casino in Wilson, Okla., as a security guard. He married Carolyn Sue Meely on August 17, 1996, at Ardmore Indian Baptist Church. Johnny became an ordained minister, loved sharing the word of God, and had served as pastor at Sandy Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting, and watching wrestling, enjoyed watching OU football, and having family cookouts. He was proud of his heritage being a member of Mississippi Choctaw and on the Chickasaw Nation Roll. Johnny was also a member of the Chickasaw Warrior Society. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Preston J. Meely, and several aunts and uncles. Johnny is survived by his wife, Sue Meely, his children: Daniel Meely, Tommy Meely, and Lisa Meely, mother of his children, Arnetta Sue Amos, step-children: Josh Wilson, Ocie Wilson, and Melissa Eades, brother, Gordon Meely, sister, Linda (Meely) Haskins, seventeen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. An overnight wake will be held at 6:00 pm, on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Ardmore, Indian Baptist Church.
