Obituary of Betty "Sue" (Pittman) Green

Betty “Sue” (Pittman) Green, age 87, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Ardmore, OK. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 16, 2023, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest of Ardmore with Pastor Donnie Custar officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Sue was born on October 11, 1935, at Shamrock, Texas. Her family moved to the Meadowbrook Community, northwest of Marietta, Okla., when she was a small child. As a young lady, she enjoyed playing basketball. After graduating from Meadowbrook High School, she moved to Ardmore and began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She retired with 32 years of service in 1987. Sue married Doran Lee Green on October 15, 1960 at Ardmore, Okla. Sue loved the Lord and was a very active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Ardmore and of the Lois Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Doran Green, her parents, two brothers, Charles “Cotton” Pittman and Joe Warren Pittman, brother-in-law, Bert Varner, and nephew, Donnie Pittman. Sue is survived by special sister-in-law, Faye Varner of Artesia, New Mexico, nephew, David Pittman and wife, Frances, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Step-daughter, Darla Pruitt and husband, Gene, step-grandson, Gene Pruitt and wife, Leah, three step-great-grandchildren, all of Buffalo, Texas, and numerous friends, church family, and extended family. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 120 Veterans Boulevard, Ardmore, OK 73401.
