Obituary of Dorothy Jean Hampton

Dorothy Jean Hampton, age 89, passed away on February 20, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Okla. Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, February 23, 2023, in the Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Pastor Donnie Custar officiating. Dorothy was born in Davis, Okla. on July 20, 1933, to Benjamin Wayne Richard and Polly (Frizzell) Richard. Her family moved to Sulphur, Okla. where she met and married the love of her life, Carl Hampton, on August 28, 1950. She was a graduate of Sulphur High School with the class of 1951. The couple moved to Ardmore in 1955 following her husband’s job with the railroad. Dorothy retired after working for 38 years at The Arthritis Clinic in Ardmore, Okla. as the office manager and insurance coordinator. Her greatest joy besides her family, was her church home at the Primitive Baptist Church of Sulphur, Okla. where she was a member for 78 years. Dorothy loved reading historical literature. She will be remembered for always having a smile on her face and joking around. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, as well as daughter, Carolyn Kidd, son, Dan Hampton and daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Hampton, and sister, Norma Grantham. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Carla Hampton, son, David Hampton, three grand-daughters; Amy Kidd, Cheryl Butlan, and Danielle Hampton, and seven great-grandchildren.
