Obituary of John Robert Norwood, Jr.

John Robert Norwood, Jr., age 64, passed away on February 16, 2023, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, February 24, 2023, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home. Cremation with care to follow. John was born in Tallahassee, FL. on February 2, 1959, to John Robert Norwood Sr. and Evelyn (Brown) Norwood. He attended and graduated from Columbus High School and went on to attend Columbus College. For a time, he worked as parts manager for Nissan in Columbus, Georgia. In 2005, he moved to Ardmore, Okla. and worked for Wal-Mart in the maintenance department until 2021. In his youth, he loved to go fishing and play tennis. More recently he liked spending time with his friends at the casinos. John enjoyed watching his television shows and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by parents, sister, Joy Norwood, and brother, Norris Dozier. John is survived by his daughter, Ashley Hardy, three siblings, sister, Jacquelyn Ford, and brothers: Henry Brown and Jonathan Norwood, four nieces, Cleo Ellington, Justice Ford, Larae Brown, Shameka Halstied, Norrisa Dozier, and Kaylin Norwood, Nephews, Antonio Ford, Chance Brown, David Dozier, Jordan Norwood, and a host of family and Friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
