Betty Marie “Betty Booger” Byrne, age 79, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Ardmore, Okla. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, December 16, 2022, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home of Ardmore with Pastor Todd Collett officiating.
Betty was born on October 18, 1943, at Oakland, California, to Robert West and Maybelle (Ratliff) West. The family moved to Ardmore and Betty attended Dickson Schools, graduating with the Class of 1963. Betty married Gerry Byrne in 1963 and from there union came four children. She worked for the Pants Factory, Jo-o-Kay Leather Factory and as a bartender and bouncer at most of the bars in Ardmore. She eventually owned her own bar “Booger’s Place”. She was an independent woman and was not afraid to get her hands dirty. She was even known to help her father level houses and change her own oil. She worked as a care giver, setting with the elderly and sick. Betty loved going to go out dancing, garage sales, sewing, and making quilts. She belonged to the Pool League for 25 years was always ranked in the top 5 to 10 spots. She will be remembered for being straightforward and as onery as you can get.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Bart Byrne, and brother, Robert Wayne West.
Betty is survived by her son, Brett Byrne and wife, Debbie, daughter, Kim Gray and husband, Brad, son, Bradley Byrne, Grandchildren: Kalyn Susuras and husband, Tyler, Hailey Hartman, Barley Byrne, Bryar Byrne, Brylea Gibson, and Shaylea Mays. Great-grandchild, Kinley Susuras. Sister, Edna Jackson, and niece, Tami Jackson-Gehle and nephew, Tyler West and a host of family and friends.
