Obituary of Emma Ruth (McGregor) Stephens

Emma Ruth (McGregor) Stephens, age 86, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 26, 2022, in The Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest with Pastor Jim Zenger, Pastor Donnie Collins, and Pastor Charles McGregor officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Ardmore, Okla. Emma Ruth was born in Garvin County Okla., on November 10, 1935, to John Dalton McGregor and Mae Belle (Winters) McGregor. She married Ernest Houston Stephens, Jr., on November 20, 1954, in Clovis, New Mexico and lived in Earth, Texas, and Blair, Okla., until 1970 when they moved to Ardmore. She and her husband were the owners/operators of Miracle Maintenance Service until 1990. Emma worked in home-health from 1987 - 1993, taking care of many Ardmore residents. She loved going to church, cooking, baking, working in her yard, and giving her time and baked goods to those who needed encouragement. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she loved to play card games and dominos with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Steve Michael Stephens; great-grandson, Gage Gatlin; brothers, Billy McGregor and Kenneth McGregor; sisters, Wanda Morrison and Mildred Othella Walker. Emma Ruth is survived by son, Gary Stephens and wife, Tammie, of Ardmore; daughter, Rita Zenger and husband, Jim, of Derby, Kansas; daughter-in-love, Charla Stephens, of Kingston, Okla.; grandchildren: Josh Stephens, Joe Stephens and wife, Angela, Adam Stephens and wife, Mandy, Dawn Gatlin and husband, Brad, Krystal Roberts and husband, Jason, James Zenger and wife, Amber, Justin Zenger and wife, Carla; great-grandchildren: Ever Stephens, Conner Stephens, Taylor Skelton, Kassie Bailey, Logan Stephens, Wailen Stephens, Charlie Stephens, Coralie Stephens, Skylar Dawson and husband, CJ, Taylor Roberts, Jastin Roberts, Kaitlyn Ramage, Levi Zenger, Emma Zenger; great-great-grandson, Liam Dawson; brother, Tommy McGregor and wife, Kitty, of Norman, Okla.; sisters-in-love, Martha McGregor, of Wynnewood, Okla., and Janice Stephens, of Ridgeland, Mississippi; brother-in-love, Bill Stephens and wife, LaJoy, of Lone Grove, Okla.
