Obituary of Carla Kirkpatrick Thomas

Carla Kirkpatrick Thomas, age 67, passed away on August 24, 2022 in Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Provence Cemetery with Pastor Mond Davis officiating. Carla was born in Potter, TX., on October 18, 1954 to Irving Ross Kirkpatrick and Martha Elizabeth (Burt) Kirkpatrick. She graduated from Ardmore High School with the Class of 1973 and went on to graduate from Murray State College with her Bachelors in Business. Carla was a seamstress while holding down multiple jobs. She became a home caregiver and later took a position for the Oklahoma School for the Deaf, where she retired. She married her best friend of 20 years, Billy Roy Thomas in 1996. She took in her great-granddaughter, Emery Thomas, as one of her own children. Carla will be remembered for her big heart and love for family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandchildren, Samantha Davis and Collyn Davis, and one brother, John Kirkpatrick. Carla is survived by her children, Erron Sowl of Ardmore, Ross Sowl and wife, Kristy, of Tulsa, Okla., and Melissa Davis and husband, Mark, of Ardmore, Okla., thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five siblings; Naomi Copeland and significant other, Tony Eads, Joanne Jones, Charlene Smith, Stephanie Lee, Burt Kirkpatrick, and sister in-law Theresa Kirkpatrick. Numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. Pallbearers will be Richard Boyd, James Boyd, Joseph Mills, Bryston Davis, Austin Smithers and Jeremy Kirkpatrick.
