Obituary of Brenda Joyce Potter

Please share a memory of Brenda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Brenda Joyce Potter, age 79, passed from this life into eternity on July 25, 2022, in Edmond, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 27, 2022, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Brenda was born in Lufkin, Texas on July 2, 1943. Her family moved to Oklahoma City when she was three years old and later attended US Grant High School. She met the love of her life, Charles Potter, while she was working as a car hop at a drive-in. She and Charles were married, and their two children, Carrie and Curt were born. They moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma in 1969, where they spent most of their adult lives. Brenda was a “stay at home mom” while her children were young and she was active in their lives. She participated in Camp Fire Girls, Cub Scouts, PTA, baseball, softball, gymnastics, swimming, tennis, and music lessons. Her dedication to taxiing her children along with other children could have put an Uber driver to shame. She was an avid sewer who made her grandkids’ Halloween costumes. She enjoyed quilting and later in life enjoyed chair yoga with her friends. She loved to cook for her pride and joy, her grandkids, Britley and Evan Potter. For Britley it was French toast and for Evan, his order was pancakes. She attended Christ Community Church where she worked part time after retiring from Noble Energy and Ardmore Public Schools. She enjoyed computers and was always ready to help anyone if they needed it. Her life was filled with activities and fellowship with the many great friends. For over 20 years she and her friends attended Pine Cove Camps. She loved the time with them in fellowship. Brenda was a beautiful giving soul full of love and kindness. She never met a stranger. She loved to laugh and have a good time. We are so grateful to God for allowing her to be in our lives. Brenda was preceded in death by her husband Charles Potter; parents, Elaine Tate, John Tate, Marvin and Joan Wolfe; brother, Robert Tate and sister, Patsy Tate Kelly. She is survived by her daughter Carrie Potter, son Curt Potter and his wife Becky; grandchildren, Britley Potter Little and Evan Potter. She is also survived by her brother, J.C. Tate; sisters, Peggy Norris, Becky Norris, and Kay Sprabary; brother, Marty Wolfe, sisters, Betty Wolfe McGrannahan and Lisa Wolfe Ward. Pall Bearers will be Gary Maytubby, Tom Brandt, Glen Burns, Mike Foster, Kevin Supan, Jim Supan and Mike Rolen. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Griffin~Hillcrest.
