Obituary of Edna Mayona (Gray) Benson

Edna Mayona (Gray) Benson, age 98, passed away on January 21, 2022, in Arlington, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 29, 2022 in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Pastor Donny Custar officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mayona was born on December 31, 1923, to Hicks Gray and Eula Burgess in Antlers, Okla. She attended Central Grade School and Horatio Arkansas High School. Mayona was a cashier at the Café at Bells Helicopter. She was a member of Inglewood Baptist Church. She enjoyed church services, picnics, dancing and family gatherings. She loved fishing, vacations and playing cards with her family; which she took very seriously. Her family was everything to her and she had six generations of love. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gordon Benson, two sisters, Delphia Litchford and Sylvia Gillispie, one brother, Alvin Gray and son-in-law, Kenneth Witt. Mayona is survived by her daughters, Gail Witt, and June Cole, three grandchildren, Tina Hornung, Shelly Rivera and Robert Goldsmith, eleven great-grandchildren, nineteen great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great-granddaughter, and extended family that she loved; Kevin, Kendall, and Kara Witt. Two sisters, Virgie Parrish and Dorothy Hurley and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be Dave Hornung, Robert Goldsmith, Chris Ballard, Hunter Gault, Mark Moore, Tim Rivera, Danny Garza and Alan Moore. The family will greet friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest.
