Obituary of Oscar Odis Copeland

Oscar Odis Copeland, age 76, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park of Ardmore. Oscar was born at Ardmore, Okla., on November 18, 1945, to LW Copeland and Annie Elizabeth (Kuykendall) Copeland. He attended and graduated with the Class of 1966 form Ardmore High School. He served his country by enlisting in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in July of 1969. Following his military service, Oscar returned to Ardmore and began working for a furniture store. He later joined Big Chief Roofing and had been with the company through all the changes of ownership and company names. He was working for Atlas Roofing until his illness forced him to retire. Oscar was an avid reader. He enjoyed reading westerns, Star Trek novels, and fiction works. He loved swimming and spending time at the lake, working with his hands, and loved working on his cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Coleman Brown, James Copeland, and Charles Copeland. Oscar is survived by two sisters, Stella Bradley and husband, Jimmie, and Mary Copeland, numerus nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
