Obituary of Anna Mae (Kirby) Smith

Anna Mae (Kirby) Smith, age 89, passed away on December 15, 2021, in Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Provence Cemetery with Pastor Steve Skinner officiating. Anna was born on September 13, 1932, to John Wesley Kirby and Stella Juanita (Stewart) Kirby. Anna attended Wheeler and Plainview Schools. She worked as a receptionist at the Osteopathic Hospital and also at several variety stores. She did childcare for many years learning to love all the little ones she cared for. She married Rev. C.R. Smith, on May 17, 1963 and was a very faithful wife helping her husband in the Ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Kirby, husband, Rev. C.R. Smith, in 1988, an infant daughter, Anna Denise Smith, two brothers, Louis and Doris Kirby, and two sisters, Pauline Wilson and Thelma Kirby. She is survived by her son, Roy David Smith, daughter, Kristi Ann Hewitt and husband, Butch, two grandsons, Joshua Roy Smith and Shelby Lang Smith, one sister, Imogene Groomer and a host of family, friends, nieces and nephews. Her prayer was that God would give her years of health to take care of her grandson, Josh, and that he did.
