Obituary of Kirby Barnett

Kirby (David) Barnett, age 85, passed away on November 15, 2021, in Ardmore, Okla. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Merrick Drive Church of Christ in Ardmore, Okla., with Minister Ron Benedick officiating. Interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. David was born on January 30, 1936, in Los Angeles, CA. He was adopted by George Henry Barnett and Nora Barnett. David was a longtime church member and attended the Lone Grove Church of Christ at the time of his death. David worked in X-ray at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Ardmore, OK, for 10 years before forming his own company, RAD diagnostics; with longtime friend Ace Richardson. David married Shirley Smith Barnett on November 3, 1998, in Gainesville, TX. They were married 23 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Brenda Kay Thompson, and stepson, Matt Smith. David is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home, stepson, Shannon Smith, grandchildren, Sarah Wallace, and husband Chance, Samantha Rushing and husband Dietrich, Natalie Smith, Austin Smith, and Parker Smith, great-grandchildren, Emmaleigh, Oliver, Isaiah Rushing, all of Ardmore, Okla., brother, Don, and wife Tinnie of Frisco, TX, two nephews, David, and wife Annette of McKinney, TX, Steve, and wife Melissa Barnett of Frisco, TX, and numerous extended family members. A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, November 19, 2021, at Griffin Hillcrest Funeral Home.
