Obituary of Sylvesta Roy Reece

Sylvesta Roy Reece, age 82, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 8, 2021 in Greenville Cemetery with The Reverend Steven Skinner officiating.
Roy was born on April 1, 1939, in Madill, Okla. to Valford Leon Reece and Pauline Lee (McHargue) Reece. He attended Madill Schools and went on to work for a seismograph company. He married Geraldine Ann Dickson on August 18, 1956, in Gainesville, TX. They lived in Madill for awhile and then moved to Oklahoma City where he worked at a propane cooling station. Roy then started his career in the oilfield working for Fleet Drilling Company as a roughneck and worked his way up until he was the drilling superintendent. He worked for almost every oilfield throughout the area. He retired from the oilfield after 40 years. Immediately following, he went to work for Greenville Schools as a custodian and bus driver for the next 10 years and then took a second retirement in 2008. Roy loved working in his orchard with his fruit trees and when given a chance he would fish. He enjoyed playing dominos “Moon” and canasta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Jerry Wayne Reece, Harold Wayne Reece, Russell Reece and Freddie Reece.
Roy is survived by his wife, Jerri Reece, three daughters, Corliss Johnson, Peggy Reece and fiancé Paul Grooms and Audra Lee Tate and husband, Billy, two sons, Sylvesta Roy Reece, Jr. and Jeff Reece and wife, Elsa, Fourteen grandchildren and special grandson, Dustin Hicks, six great grandsons, sixteen great granddaughters, three brothers, six sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2021, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
