Obituary of Winnie McNeely

Winnie McNeely, age 88, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021, in Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 2, 2021, at Enville Cemetery, Enville, Okla., with the Reverend Steve Wall officiating. Winnie was born on April 9, 1933, to Mose Ned and Leola (McCurtain) Porter. She went to school at Carter Seminary for four years and then went to a country school called Liberty – halfway between McMillan and Lebanon. Winnie married Charles Edward McNeely on March 11, 1950, in Ardmore, Okla. She worked for a short time as a Telephone Operator as well as at Stromberg Carlson and Uniroyal. Winnie worked at the pants factory in Marietta for many years and then went to work for the Chickasaw Nation as a Health Representative in the Home Healthcare Division. She will be remembered for making all of her and her girl’s clothing. It didn’t keep her from loving to shop. Winnie loved lifting her voice in song. She loved to go anywhere as long as it was to go and travelling all over the United States with the Chickasaw Senior Citizens. Visiting and laughing with her family gave her great joy. Winnie loved attending church anytime she could to praise and worship her Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Edward McNeely, daughter, Melinda Sue (McNeely) Smith, son, Nicky Dion McNeely, great-grandson, Billy Max Smith, one sister, Mary Helen Boston, and one brother, William Batson Ned. Winnie is survived by her son, William Charles McNeely and wife, Vicki, of Lone Grove, Okla., daughter, Cheryl Rogers and husband, Ricky, of Ardmore, son-in-law, Jerome Smith of Ardmore. Six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and one on the way. One brother, Carnes Porter, of Ardmore, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
