Obituary of Ricky Gene Clayburn

Please share a memory of Ricky to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ricky Gene Clayburn was born June 13, 1954 in Killeen, Tx. to Eugene Paul Clayburn and Mable L. Bollen-Clayburn. He started his journey home on March 16, 2021 at the age of 66. Cremation with care under the direction of Griffin~Hillcrest. Ricky attended Plainview High School prior to transferring to Lone Grove High School for two years to complete his education. He was named the 'Most Co-operative' boy by his Senior class piers and listed on the Governor's Honor Roll. With a great love of music, he participated in the High School Choir and the 'Mixed Ensemble' musical group. Whenever possible, he would play the guitar. Ricky was a wanderer and spent most of his life traveling around. He didn't like to stay in one place very long. He was an avid story teller and liked to talk about his adventures and misadventures. Ricky's favorite state to live and visit was Arizona. Ricky loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, camping, hunting, as well as 'treasure' collecting. His favorite sport was tennis. He, also, liked building and tinkering with things and aspired to be a carpenter and plumber, which was a family trait passed down from his father, Gene Clayburn. Ricky is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Clayburn; brother, Bryan Clayburn; many Uncles, Aunts, and cousins. Ricky is survived by his mother, Mable Clayburn; two brothers, Darren Clayburn, Oklahoma City, OK. & Patrick Clayburn, Ardmore, OK; one sister, Judy L. Clayburn-Downs, Ardmore, OK. He is, also, survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He will certainly be missed. Life's lessons prepare us for the greatest journey awaiting us after death. The journey doesn't end with death. Rather, death is the beginning of another path, one that we all must, eventually, take. Ricky had many journeys and learned many lessons in this life, but he is on the greatest, most awesome journey ever now. As we say 'Good-bye' to a dear friend, take comfort in knowing that our separation is only temporary. One day, we will all be together again. Until we meet again our dear friend, may God hold you in the palm of his hand. Isaiah 57:1-2 Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die. Rest In Peace my sweet brother! Until we see you on the other side of Jordan! Written with joint effort & thoughts by Ricky's Therapist & 'Coffee Pal', Danelle Magness, and Sister, Judy L. Clayburn-Downs.
