Obituary of David Oneal Upton

David Oneal Upton passed away at the age of 50 on Thursday, May 12, 2016, in Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Provence Cemetery with Dana Burchett officiating. David was born on April 21, 1966, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Stanley Peyton Upton and Mary Ann (Porter) Upton. He attended and graduated from Tulsa Central High School in Tulsa, Okla. He married Charlette Hurley on May 7, 1986, in Gainesville, Texas. The couple moved to Ardmore, Okla., and he went to work for Hickory House as a cook, which he loved to do, for 13 years until the restaurant closed. David’s marriage ended with Charlette in 2004. In 2008, he began his life with Nancy Hughes. He was an avid supporter of OU sports, loved playing music, and was an accomplished guitar player. David loved to draw and was a tattoo artist. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandpa, Bob O’Conner, niece, Maranda Smith Doughty, and grandson, Rick Moore III. David is survived by his wife, Nancy Hughes, of the home. Mother, Wynona Hurley. Children: Christina Knight and husband, Michael, Christopher David Upton, Shannon Upton and her fiancé, Patrick Loughridge, Peyton Oneal Upton, and Serenity Upton. Step-daughters: Krista Martin, Brittany Hays, Niya Hays, and Naliyah Hays. Grandchildren: August Steudeman, Gavin Upton, Jackson Loughridge, and Gracie Upton. Step-granddaughter, Brooklynn Parker. Sisters: Brenda Noland and Cathy Smith. Nieces: Leah Williams, Karen Thompson, Tanya Taylor, and Stephanie Bizek, and nephew, James Vaughan. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Upton, Michael Knight, Patrick Loughridge, and Christopher Parker. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Griffin~Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
