Did a couple things this week that made me think of you. Helped out some folks with unloading some tires at the recycle place and gave a stray dog some food while it was raining. I cant forget you!!!

Gosh if you did not have the pleasure of knowing Fielding you missed a treat. He told stories like no other...towards the end, some of those stories were repeated.....and repeated. But, smart...by golly, Fielding was smart. His blue jean overalls presented well the laid back country guy he was. I knew Fielding and Joyce and Superman when they lived in Arkansas. His ability to restore an old Zenith radio was legendary throughout the radio collecting community. I will miss my friend.

I meet Fielding through David Powell as we are both interested in electronics and radio repair. He was such a gem of a person. Even though we only got to talk a couple of times he impressed me as such a fine person. I wish I could have gotten to know him better. Reading the obituary I learned what a great technical education he had gained in service to his country.

I met Fielding by a stroke of luck, sometime I believe around 2007. I had purchased an old radio and was determined to repair it myself, so I went straight to the internet and found a group of friendly guys called the ‘Chicago Radio Club’. Seeking help from the lower Midwest, there was the following conversation;
“what state do you live in?”
Oklahoma
“GREAT, there is a super guy that lives in Ardmore, how far away are you from Ardmore?”
I LIVE in Ardmore.
“His name is Fielding and he lives on Sunset and Bixby, he is VERY knowledgeable and I bet would be glad to help”
I live on SUNSET AND 6th. (The nationally known expert literally lived down the street!)
We became good friends for many years and he was always so entertaining. He was a living, breathing Norman Rockwell painting, a real treasure. A true patriot, with countless stories and basic life lessons he was eager to pass on. He too was in luck, as I am a patient, good listener that highly respects older veterans – especially with technical wisdom! He was very much in love with Joyce and would not let me come over if it was anywhere near her ‘bean time’. He spoke of Cary nearly every time I visited as he was quite proud of him, although he seemed puzzled why his son had no interest in fiddling with dirty, dusty, half rotten, smelly relics of electronic history that could kill you in an instant by touching the wrong component!
I will forever miss Fielding. Attached is a photo I took, perhaps around 2010, several years into our friendship.
