Obituary of Lela Frances (Brown) Mauldin

Lela Frances (Brown) Mauldin, age 84, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Tyler, Texas. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 21, 2016, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest with Pastor Glenn Dyson officiating. Lela was born on July 6, 1932, in Healdton, Okla., to Wiley Augustus Brown and Mary Lou Etta (Stewart) Brown. She began her education at Staunton, Okla., and later attended and graduated from Dundee High School in Dundee, Okla. Lela married Clinton D. Mauldin on August 15, 1949, in Henrietta, Texas. They began their life as a couple in Wirt, Okla. Lela lost her husband early in life. She was a homemaker and mother. Lela was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Healdton where she attended regularly. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Vala Robinson and Dorothy Izella Bowen, and two brothers: Arto Brown and W. L. Brown. Lela is survived by her daughters: Norma Mauldin Mills, Carol Johnson, Barbra Lynn Tipton, and Helen Paul, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one sister, Naomi Carter.
