Cleatha I was sorry to hear about Don's passing.
I have a lot of memories about Don, I was on the Police Force with him from 1966 to 1974.
I felt from the time I met him he radiated the presence of the Holy Spirit. He and I would talk about his church ministries. He was the pastor at my mother's funeral in Ardmore. Don was always willing to share his faith.
I remember the time Don was unloading his pistol in the station. It went off and hit the wall in Chief Marchasonie's office. He went back into the office and took a picture on the wall and moved it over the bullet hole. No one ever knew. Or the time he was practicing quick draw in front of a mirror and shot the mirror.
When I first met Don he was patrolling the alleys of foot in Ardmore, He had a rifle with bayonet on it and had a 45 pistol on his hip. I thought at the time those alleys on Caddo must have been tough. He enjoyed using the departments tommy gun and was a pretty good shot. We made some training videos that were later used by the department police academy.
He helped a lot when the Air Plane went down in Gene Autry air field. That was my first night as a officer. He was a big help during that time.
We are praying for you during this time
