Homer Ray “Shorty” Duke, age 50, passed away on October 23, 2016, at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, October 28, 2016, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Pastor Morgan Ashworth officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.
Shorty was born on March 4, 1966, to Homer “Pete” Duke and Carol (Taylor) Duke at Ardmore, Okla. He attended Ardmore and Dickson Schools. He married Crystal Dobos March 23, 1991 at Dickson Baptist Church in Dickson, Okla. He worked alongside his father at Duke Construction for all of his working life. He loved being outdoors hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for his loving heart, always extending himself to anyone.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Duke.
Shorty is survived by his wife, Crystal Duke of the home, four children; Jose Avila of Madill, Okla., Jamie Mason and husband, Todd, of Ardmore, Okla., Echo Duke of Ardmore, Okla., and Evelin Duke of Dickson, Okla., five grandchildren; Kassidy Avila, Isabela Avila, Jerimiah Avila, Ayden Duke, and Leah Mason. father, Homer “Pete” Duke Jr., brother, Troy Duke, and wife, Linda, of Dickson, Okla., sister, Karen Wilson and husband, Harvey, of Lone Grove, Okla., and grandmother, Claudine Laney, of Durham, North Carolina.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be; Jose Avila, Todd Mason, Shawn Parrott, Shawn Duke, Troy Duke and Harvey Wilson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be; David Roberts, Steven Chitwood, Danny Hauther and Dylan Wentz.
Family visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
