Obituary of Carolyn Aline Sims

Carolyn Aline (Thompson) Sims, age 57, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Walters, Okla. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at The Chapel in Griffin~Hillcrest, 1610 C Street SE, Ardmore, Okla., with Pastor Jay Mule officiating. Interment to follow at Nelda Cemetery. Cara was born on May 9, 1959, to Buford Thompson and Pauline Taylor at Oklahoma City, Okla. She attended Ninnekah Elementary School, Pioneer Elementary School, and was a graduate of Chickasha High School in 1977. She married Cecil Sims in 2002, but they have been together since 1988. For most of her life, she was a professional dry cleaner and also worked as a caterer. She was most proud of being a housewife and extending her home to children as a foster parent for many years. Cara loved to cook, sew, and work on costume designs. She enjoyed going to the casino and was a die-hard New York Giants and Thunder fan. She is preceded in death by her parents, uncle, Clifton Taylor, aunt, Bertha Taylor, sister, Sharon Davis, and brother, Ronnie Thompson. Cara is survived by her husband of 28 years, Cecil Sims, of the home. Two daughters: Bridget Rooker of Walters and Brittany Rooker of Oklahoma City, and one son, Michael Thompson of Oklahoma City. Sisters: Trudy Schultz and husband Pat, Pauline Underwood, Darlene Vanderloos and husband Bill, Loretta Thompson, and Lola Mae Musick and husband E.J., and brother Ringo Thompson. Seven grandsons: Dominique Thompson, Deon Thompson, Avery Thompson, Azariah Thompson, Braden Moiser, Patrick “Nate” Moiser, and B.J. Palmer, three granddaughters: Roselyn Thompson, Madison Thompson, and Jada Norflett, and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Pat Schultz, Steve Crisel, Tony Laurenzana, Tanner Underwood, David Taylor, Braden Moiser, and Justin Fulton. Those serving as honorary bearers will be Ian Terry, Patrick “Nate” Moiser, Cheto Lara, BJ Palmer, Deon Thompson, Dominique Thompson, and Michael Thompson. Prayer services will be held on Monday evening, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at The Chapel in Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
