Obituary of Milton Nathan Thompson Jr.

Milton Nathan Thompson Jr., age 70, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 10, 2016, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with The Reverend Wayne Harjo officiating. Interment to follow in Hickory Cemetery. Nathan was born at Overbrook, Okla., on September 14, 1945, to Milton Nathan Thompson Sr., and Louella (Farve) Thompson. He attended and graduated from Plainview High School. Nathan enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge and returned to Ardmore, Okla. He took a position as a bottler at Coca Cola Bottling Company in Ardmore for three years and then took a position as a roller mill operator for Blue Bonnet Feeds where he worked until he retired in 1997. In his youth, he was a hunter and liked spending time in the outdoors. Being around the softball field is what Nathan enjoyed the most. He first played with and later coached his teams: the Dickson Indians, the women’s Lady Buc’s, men’s Ardmore Buc’s teams, and his grandchildren individually until his health forced him to only watch. He always participated in his heart. In his retirement, he loved to watch his grandchildren play in any sport that they would participate in. He was an avid OU fan. Making many friends, Nathan would sit and talk to anyone who would be willing to spend time with him. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Thompson, son, Terry Thompson, and granddaughter, Ally Sampson, three sisters, Corena Bob, Susie Thompson and Verna Johnson. Nathan is survived by two sons, Warren Sampson, and his fiancé, Shannan Spain, of Ardmore, Okla., and Kendall Thompson, of the home, daughter, Vicki Harris and husband, Joel, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Step son Darrel Sampson, two brothers, Edwin Thompson, and wife, Shirley, and Ronnie Sampson, and wife, Fernie, sister in law, Shirley Sampson, of the home, fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and numerus Nieces and Nephews. Those serving as pallbearers will be Coby Lewis, Harold “PoPo” Marris, Noel Marris, Jordan Sampson, Lesly Sampson and Scotty Sampson. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Ardmore Buc’s Wake services will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, June 9, 2016, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest.
