Obituary of Patsy Evans
Patsy Jo Evans, age 76, passed away at her home in Ardmore, Okla., with her husband by her side on Friday, July 5, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Randal Richards officiating.
Patsy was born on January 6, 1943, to Clifton Riley Pettit and Maudie Winnie (Cheatham) Pettit, in Riverside, California. Patsy attended elementary school in Windom, Texas. As a child, she helped her family handpick cotton and maintain the family farm. Patsy and her family moved back to California, where Patsy graduated from Anaheim High School and then cosmetology school. Patsy was a hair stylist for over 50 years. She built lifelong friendships with her clients, even styling hair at their nursing homes and for their funeral services.
Patsy married Thomas Evans on October 1, 1977, in Ardmore. In her earlier years, she enjoyed oil painting and sewing clothing for her daughters, even making tap bows every year for their entire dance company. Patsy was selfless and delighted in giving Christmas and birthday gifts to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also hosted family events and holiday celebrations and enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren at sporting events, recitals, and other activities. Patsy loved going on road trips to visit family, spending time with her loved ones while sharing a delicious meal, and indulging in pedicures and shopping with her daughters.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jimmy Wayne Pettit. Patsy is survived by her husband, Thomas Evans, three children, Clifton Willingham, Leah Westgate, and Karey Barnard and their families, and numerous loving cousins and other family members. Before passing, Patsy asked Tom to make sure to care of her “baby,” their Chihuahua, Mylee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Cross Timbers Hospice.
