Obituary of Curtis Ray Boston

Curtis Ray Boston, age 70, passed peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Pickens Baptist Church in Marshall County with Pastor David Gardner officiating. Interment to follow in Pickens Cemetery.

 

Curtis was born on May 11, 1948, to Buster Boston and Alice (Battiest) Boston, at McMillan, Okla. He graduated from Ardmore High School and attended Murray State College. During the Vietnam War, Curtis served three years in the US Army and spent a year overseas in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge as a Private First Class, he lived in Dallas, Texas, before returning to Ardmore where he met and married Miss Johanna Taylor in 1978. Curtis attended a church service and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1980 and is a member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church of Lone Grove. He enjoyed gospel singing and sang with the Joy Choir.  Curtis loved the Lord, driving the church van, and his Tuesday morning men’s Bible study group. He loved watching sports, especially the Arizona Cardinals and the Oklahoma Sooners. The greatest joy in his life has been the birth of his precious daughter, Chasity, and grandson, Gabriel.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Wanda Mason, Ada Wilson, and Alice Beattrice Smith, and two brothers, Harold Boston and Harry Boston.

 

Curtis is survived by his wife, Johanna Boston, daughter, Chasity Boston, grandson Gabriel Ned, all of Ardmore, and sister, Linda Roberts, of Newcastle, Okla.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Roberts, Myron Boston, Rick Mason, Willard Wilson, Lee Wilson, and Brandon Boston. Honorary bearers will be Christopher Roberts, Brent Boston, Chris Sampson, Roland Wade, Lee Contreras, and Ronny Sampson.

 

Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday, April 15, 2019, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home of Ardmore.
