Karen Yvonne Hickman, age 65, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore. Karen was born at Ardmore on March 8, 1953, to Morris Taylor and Vallie Thelma (Jefferson) Taylor. She attended and graduated from Dickson Schools. She attended business school, worked as a cosmetologist, and at the hospital in housekeeping. Karen worked for LaQuinta Inn for fourteen years and then took a position as the manager of Chief Motel until her health forced her to retire. She loved to play at the casino. Karen will be remembered for her wonderful frybread and for ensuring that spending time with her family was her most important priority. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Cynthia Thompson, and step-granddaughter, Karlie Clearman. Karen is survived by her daughter, Charla Hickman; son, Timothy Hickman and wife,Stephanie; nine grandchildren: Dakota Hickman and wife, Regina, Matthew Hickman and wife, Darla, Christopher Hickman, Shawn Hickman, Daelyn Hickman, Sierra Hickman, Isaiah Wood, Breann Wood, and Wintor Bray; two step-grandchildren, Kara Clearman and Taylor Clearman; brother, Larry W. Taylor Sr. and wife, Denise; three nephews: Larry W. Taylor Jr. and wife, Ana, Rocky Taylor, and Chad Clayton; and niece, Shelly Clayton. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Taylor Jr., Chad Clayton, Rocky Taylor Sr., Rocky Taylor Jr., Dakota Hickman, and Matthew Hickman. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Pettigrew, Christopher Hickman, Shawn Hickman, Bob Patel, and Jajuan Clayton. Prayer services will be held on Wednesday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, January 16, 2019, at The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore.
