Obituary of Larry Scott

Larry Joseph Scott, age 69, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at Ardmore, Okla. Funerals services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 17, 2018, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor James Freeman will officiate.

 

He was born at Alameda, California, on June 24, 1949, to Everett Jackson Scott and Eula Mae (Dry) Scott.  His family moved to Ardmore in 1953 where he attended Ardmore Public Schools. He graduated from Plainview High School with the Class of 1969. He enlisted in United States Air Force and served overseas in Vietnam where he received the National Defense Service Medal. Larry was honorably discharged and returned to Ardmore and began working in the oil field. He met his wife, Miss Patricia Smith, and they married on January 15, 1973, in Gainesville, Texas. The couple moved to Oklahoma City, where he worked for Nashert Construction for ten years. They returned to Ardmore in 2000 and he opened his own company, S&S Construction, and retired in 2007. Larry loved to play basketball, as well as coaching his grandchildren in the sport. He was an avid Bulls fan, in and later the LA Lakers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Golden State Warriors.  Larry was a true Harley man, passionate about riding and working on his bikes and being on the road with other Vietnam Veterans.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Larry is survived by his wife, Pat, of the home, children: Michelle Culley and husband, Darren, of Lone Grove, Okla., Jammie Scott and fiancé, Steve Stampul, of Oklahoma City, John Scott and wife, Frankie, of Sapulpa, Okla., and Larry Joe Scott, Jr., of Sapulpa. Grandchildren: Jarred Culley and wife, Jaycee, Darren R. Culley and wife, Shawnda, and Jake Sheppard, all of Ardmore, Jeremy Ivers and Jojo Stampul, both of Oklahoma City, and Hayley Scott, Ashley Scott, and Isabelle Scott, all of Sapulpa. Great-grandchildren: Jordan Culley, Jayde Culley, Michelle Sheppard, Rhyatt Sheppard, Logan Sheppard, Braiden Sheppard, Natalie Smith, Memphis Jackson, and Baby Culley due in January. Granddaughters-in-law: Nicki Irvin, Kylie Freeman, and Jessica Peacock. Sisters: Debbie Vidiallet and husband, Humberto, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, and Pamela Scott of Ardmore. One brother, George Pavao, and wife, Susan, of California.

 

Those serving as pallbearers will be Jarred “Roo” Culley, Darren Culley, Darren “Buck” Culley, Jake Sheppard, Jeremy Ivers, and Chris Ramsey.

 

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Ardmore, Okla.
