Obituary of Anita Marlene Vaughn

Anita Marlene Vaughn, age 79, passed away on August 7, 2018, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, August 10, 2018, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Derek Crawford and Pastor Robert Wilson officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Anita was born in Ardmore, Okla. on August 13, 1938, to Thurman Everett Burton and Lena Ethel (Clemons) Burton. She attended and graduated from Dickson High School class of 1957. She married her high school sweetheart Marvin Wayne Vaughn on December 24, 1955 in Ardmore, Okla. Anita devoted her life to her children and grandchildren and was a homemaker for most of her life. She was an accomplished artist and will be remembered for her flower gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Barbara Green and two brothers, Larry Burton and Vernon Burton.

Anita is survived by her husband, Marvin Wayne Vaughn, of the home, son, Darrell Vaughn, Son, Gary Vaughn and wife Karen, one daughter, Karen Dunn and husband Dale and son, Steven Vaughn and his very special friend, Vicki Allen. Seven grandchildren; Jeremie Wilson and wife Kristi, Stephanie Volino, Jerad Vaughn, Lindsay Johns and husband Jason, Jacob Vaughn, Kristin Collett and husband Colton, Taylor Bean and husband Nick,  eleven great-grandchildren, one brother, Ed Burton and wife Deana and one sister, Tena Layton, all of Ardmore, and Anita’s very special friend, Marie O’Shields.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Jerad Vaughn, Jacob Vaughn, Jeremie Wilson, Jason Johns, Colton Collett and Nick Bean.
