Obituary of Clyde Milton Darter
Clyde Milton Darter, age 81, left this earthly home in Ardmore, Okla. to join his heavenly Father and Savior in his eternal home, on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest. Pastor Chuck Samples will officiate assisted by Pastor Randy McFarland and Pastor Howard McMurry. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park of Ardmore, Okla.
Clyde was born on December 2, 1936, at Coleman, Okla., to Walter Darter and Marye (Ford) Darter. The family moved to Ardmore when he was in the first grade. He began his long-working years at a very young age by helping on the family dairy farm and then got a job at the local sale barn to earn money for his school clothes. Clyde graduated from Plainview High School in May of 1955 and married Miss Patricia Ann Ross, his high school sweetheart, on August 10, 1955, at Gainesville, Texas. He took a job at Pratts Grocery Store as the produce manager and worked up to being assistant manager. In 1964, he became a police officer with the Ardmore Police Department, and in 1967 he took a position at Comet Feed Mill as the Warehouse Manager. In 1974, he started his career with Ardmore Drilling working on the oil derricks. In 1985, Clyde began working at Uniroyal and worked there until his retirement in 1999. He and Pat have held their church membership with First Baptist Church of Ardmore for the past fourteen years. Clyde will be remembered by his family as a wonderful role model. He was an honest, hardworking, reliable, self-sacrificing, good Christian man of his word who loved to laugh and share his joy with others. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, three brothers; Ancel Darter, Jack Darter, and Bill Darter. Two sisters: Betty Lou Brown and Carmel Darter.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Darter, of the home, son, Larry Milton Darter, daughter, Deborah Williamson and husband, John, of Lone Grove, Okla., daughter, Susan Watterson and husband, Randy, of Olathe, Kansas, and daughter, Jennifer Bramlett and husband, Scott, of Ardmore. Six granddaughters: Sara Lockwood, Amber Shockley, Rebekah Bhansali, Lori Williamson, Andrea Kelley, and Chelsea Watterson, and two grandsons: Zachary Bramlett and Nathan Bramlett. Two great-granddaughters: Hailey Lockwood and Molly Shockley, and four great-grandsons: Aiden Shockley, Milo Shockley, Blake Lockwood, and Amadeo Bhansali. One sister, Juanella Darter, and one brother, James Darter, both of Ardmore, and a host of family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Darter, Randy Watterson, Jason Lockwood, Zachary Bramlett, Tommy Ellis, and Jeffrey Akard.
