Obituary of Dearl Wayne Cathey
Dearl Wayne Cathey, age 83, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Marietta Okla. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, June 27,2018 at CrystalRock Cathedral with the Reverend Walt Spradling officiating. Interment will follow in Sunnylane Cemetery, Del City, Okla. at 3:00pm.
Dearl was born January 19, 1935 at McAlester, Okla. to Joseph Edward Cathey and Josie Carol (Wallen) Cathey. He attended McAlester Schools and for short time Dearl lived in California with his brother where he worked. Dearl moved back to Oklahoma City and went him to work at the Rainbow Bread company. Dearl met his wife’s brother who introduced to Glenda Geraldine Lane and they were married March 20, 1959 in Del City. He continued working and in 1972, he moved to Lone Grove, Okla. A year later, he started his law enforcement career as the Town Marshall in Lone Grove Okla. The town became a city shortly there after and Dearl was moved up through the ranks and served as the Chief of Police for the City of Lone Grove for thirteen years. For a brief time, he served as a deputy for the Carter County Sheriff’s Office and then for the Davis Police Department where he was posted to work at Turner Falls. He retired at his law enforcement career as a deputy for the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office.
Dearl Preceded in death by his parents, wife of 46 years, Glenda Geraldine Cathey, one daughter Donna Carol Cathey, three brothers, Doug Cathey, Paul Cathey, Ovie Cathey, and a sister Jewel Smith.
Dearl is survived by; Son, Darin Cathey and wife, Roxanna of Ardmore, Okla. Daughter Dena Gail Cathey of Ardmore, Okla. One grandson; Brandon Cathey and wife Sarah of Lone Grove, one Granddaughter; Robyn Matthews of Healdton, Okla. Great Grandchildren; Ryan Matthews and Gracie Matthews of Healdton, Okla. one brother Thad Cathey and wife Clara Faye of Oklahoma City, one brother Glen Cathey of Temple TX. one sister; Maxine Hoklotubbe of McAlester.
Pallbearers will be; Darin Cathey, Brandon Cathey, Ryan Matthews, Ray Vinson III, Kelly Cathey, and Billy Eades.
Honorary Pallbearers will be; the Officer’s of the Ardmore Police Department, and the Deputies of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office.
Pallbearers will be at Sunnylane Cemetery; the Oklahoma City Police Department Honor Guard who will be presenting Honors as well.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:00pm Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
