Obituary of Billie Ruth Davis

Billie Ruth Davis passed away at the age of 90 in Gainesville, Texas, on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 2, 2018, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Lee officiating.

Billie was born on February 18, 1928, to Jefferson Lee Davis and Ruth Minnie (Roberson) Davis in Ardmore, Okla. She was a graduate of Ardmore High School and went on to attend Texas Women’s College and Oklahoma A&M. Billie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and moved to Kansas where she taught Physical Education. She continued her education at Kansas University. She later left her teaching career and became a physical therapist in Dallas, Texas. After retirement, she started working in homecare. Billie enjoyed traveling and watching sports. She was an avid reader. She liked to knit in her spare time, and enjoyed being outside doing yard work and caring for her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Euna Lee (Davis) Jones, and longtime companion, Doris Kesterson.

Billie is survived by three nieces: Jan Lee Jones McDonald of Ardmore, Leslie Jones and husband, Charles Swaim, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, and Carla Jones Turner and husband, David, of Whitesboro, Texas. Three great- nephews: Scott Keeton and wife, Shannon, of Ardmore, Robert Keeton and wife, Tanya, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, and Larry McDonald of Ringling, Okla., and ten great-great- nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, June 1, 2018, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
