Obituary of James Albert DeBord, Jr.

James Albert “Jimmy Jr.”  DeBord, Jr., age 57, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Denton, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Thackerville Cemetery, Thackerville, Okla., with Pastor Mike Sampson officiating.

Jimmy was born on June 5, 1960, in Ardmore, Okla., to James Albert “Jimmy John” DeBord and Dovie Jean (LaFlore) DeBord.  He attended school and graduated from Thackerville High School.  After graduation, Jimmy moved to California and worked as a car salesman. He moved back to Thackerville and worked at the Gainesville Oil Refinery. He had his own trash hauling company and worked all over the southern counties and in Texas. Jimmy’s mother, Dovie, would work alongside of him hauling trash for many years. He loved to work with his hands as a mechanic on cars and small engine repair. Since 1981, Jimmy was a volunteer with the Thackerville Volunteer Fire Department.    He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, and would take them fishing. Jimmy married Dinorah Garza on June 15, 1994, at the Thackerville Fire House.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Billie Gene DeBord.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Dinorah DeBord, two step-daughters: Tiffany Garza (DeBord) Ghuloum  and Tanrii Garza (DeBord) Martinez. Brothers: Emmitt W. DeBord, Jerry D. DeBord, and Eugene DeBord. Sister, Coy Sue Fleck. Twelve nieces and nephews, and two great-great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, May 2, 2018, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home of Ardmore.
