Ethel Faye (Winchester) Daffern, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, in Ardmore, Okla. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 7, 2018, at The Chapel in Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral, Ardmore, Okla. with Pastor Ed Skidmore Officiating. Cremation services under the direction of Griffin~Hillcrest.

 

Ethel was born on August 10, 1943 in Muenster, Texas, to Charlie Lorenza Winchester and Lottie Bell (Dillon) Winchester. The family moved to Grand Prairie, Texas, when she was nine. She met and married Donald Self, Sr., in 1958. In 1974, the couple moved to Ardmore, Okla. After her divorce in 1982, Ethel moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado. She married Frank M. Daffern on May 15, 1982, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They both worked for Larimer County where she was the Chief Bookkeeper for the County Treasurers Office before she left. In 2000, the couple moved back to Ardmore, Okla., after their retirement. She and Frank were members of the Good Sam’s Club. They loved traveling and when they were home, she loved to cook and have big family gatherings. She would do anything to help her family. Ethel will be remembered as a kind and sweet soul.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Donald Self Sr. and Frank M. Daffern, and granddaughter, Shea Self, two brothers, Charles Ray Winchester and William David Winchester.

 

Ethel is survived by two sons: Donald Ray Self and wife Ronda, and Dylan Self and wife Michelle, one daughter, Dawnia Cravatt and husband Rick. Grandchildren: Toby Self, DaLesa Self, Darren Self, Dyla Self, Kara Hamilton, Brendon Vandergriff, Dylan Self, Jr. and Johnathon Self. Great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Hunter, Dakota, Cale Michael, Willow, and Rowan, and one sister, Nellie Pearl Raines.
