Obituary of Lawanda Faye Hemingway-Mason

Lawanda Faye Hemingway-Mason, age 76, passed away on April 3, 2018, in Ardmore, Okla. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church under the direction of her family with Mr. Jimmy Frame Officiating.

 

Lawanda was born in Madill, Okla. on August 19, 1941, to Melvin Wilson and Jettie (Bench) Wilson. Lawanda graduated from Lone Grove High School Class of 1959 and went on to attend and graduate from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors Degree.

She married Bill Mason in 1988 in Los Angeles, Calf. She went on to teach consumer science at the high school level in Dallas Independent Schools from 1997 until her retirement in 2011. She will be remembered as an avid reader.  

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill Mason, daughter, Patricia Gayle Baker and great-granddaughter, Alexandra Olivia Michelle Edwards Conley. 

 

Lawanda is survived by her son, James A. Cook, Jr., son-in-law, Ronnie Baker, three grandchildren; Sandi Robb, and husband Danny, Brandi Edwards and Jason Baker. Five great-grandchildren: Hailey Gayle Edwards, Dalton Alan Argo, Macie Faye Marie Argo, Shaylynn Edwards, and Dana Robb, four sisters, Hattie Eubank, Melba Davis and husband, Gerald, Annette Frame and husband, Jimmy and Debbie Kennedy and husband Dan and one brother, Mark Wilson and wife Kathy.
