Obituary of Billie Jean Harvey

Billie Jean (McMullin) Harvey passed away at the age of 77 surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 1, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 9, 2016, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Pastor Terry Tolbert officiating. Billie was born in Ardmore, Okla., on May 21, 1939, to Arby D. McMullin Sr. and Billie LaVerne (Smith) McMullin. She attended Ardmore Schools. Billie married Jack Harvey, and from that union came four children. She went to work for Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation and retired in 1997 after 25 plus years of service. She devoted her life to care for her younger brother, Arby D. “Dee” McMullin Jr., for ten years. She moved to Las Vegas to be close to her daughter, Julie, to help with her family. Always making family a focus and keeping up with everyone on Facebook, Billie kept her family in her life until her passing. She was a devoted news junky, enjoyed discussing current events, and was an avid reader of non-fiction. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dee McMullin Jr., grandson, William Grey Shook, and great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Southerland. Billie is survived by four children: daughter, Jacci Harvey Southerland, of Ardmore, daughter, Sandee Harvey Graham, and husband, Brian, of Lone Grove, Okla., son, Randall Britt Harvey, of Ardmore, and daughter, Julie Harvey Shook, and husband, John, of Las Vegas, three sisters; Sherry Putnam, and husband, Jim, of Arlington, Texas, Lynda Wright, and husband, James, of Ardmore, Okla., and Sandra Noland, of Ardmore, Okla. Nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in her name to www.spectrumconnects.org, an autism support charity, or to Adult Day Services of Southern Oklahoma, 1902 Shenandoah Drive, Ardmore, Ok 73401.
