Author E. “Art” Greenslade, age 82, passed away on October 24, 2017, at Ardmore, Okla.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 28, 2017, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

 

Art was born on May 1, 1935, to Wiley Fern (Greenslade) Dunlap in Dallas, Texas. Art attended Dallas Schools and enlisted in the Air Force at the age of 17. Art served his country and retired with an Honorable Discharge from Vandenberg Air Force Base in May of 1973 as Tech Sergeant. He married the love of his life Alta McLaughlin on July 21, 1956, in Lubec, Maine. The couple followed Art’s career and traveled extensively throughout the world. In his retirement, Art owned and operated businesses in California and Texas. In 2002, they moved to Ardmore, Okla. to be close to their family; he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to bowl and was an avid golfer.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wiley Fern Dunlap, step-father, Elton Green and one son-in-law, Charles “Buffalo” Perry.

 

Art is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alta Greenslade, four daughters, Sherrill Perry, Diane Pfarr and husband, Mike, Cynthia Guess and husband, Carl, and Laurie Stroud and husband, Chris, eleven grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, October 27, 2017 at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
